Hello!

I'm interested to hear your first impressions of my newsletter. Does it appear obvious who I am, what I'm writing about and who I'm talking to? Anything missing? Anything positively stand out?

First, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your logo. Did you do that yourself?

Your welcome page is so clear... except when I read it, I think I should subscribe if I am also a therapist / solopreneur? Like that the "real-time lessons" and the "deep-dives" are going to be help building one's practice by learning from your lessons?

Then when I get onto your page, it's not clear from the home-page where to get those lessons. Those are in the "Deep-Dives", right? I'm thinking that an easy fix would be to rename Deep-Dives to something like "Solopreneurship Deep-Dives" or something, so I know that's where I go to get tips/lessons/stories on that part of your substack?

Or you can use pins on some of the articles that are the most relevant to what you're offering to the top, so that we always see those (and that they seem to "match" the welcome page...)

On your About page, I'd flip the content so that the stuff your reader gets each month and who you are writing for is at the top, and the story of how your substack came to be is on the bottom?

Love the uniqueness and variety of what you're offering, well done!

Hi Marika!! I just saw your comment. Thank you so much for taking the time to review my page. Your questions are very valid! This is exactly what I have been wondering about.

Because as well as hoping for readers who are therapists and solopreneurs, I also want to connect with women who experience self-doubt who I help in therapy.

I'm not sure if that is achievable under the umbrella of Theraprenuer Diaries 🤔 but I love the name 🙏🏻

Thanks for love for my logo - I did make it 😁

Yes, this is what I suspected when I looked over your page, that you have two kinds of readers. Maybe just think about how you can organize your homepage or name things so that folks looking for different kinds of support will find it? And you could tweak the welcome page a bit to name both kinds of readers as well? I don't htink you have to change the name of your newsletter, it's perfect!

p.s. I just noticed your bio under your profile, and that gestures more clearly toward the self-doubting women, so maybe just incorporating that into your welcome page would work!

(I realize Amanda, you have your own personal things going on at home; I hesitated posting this here right now, but you also said this community is good for you, so I’m hoping some community members jump in with thoughts. And maybe more will ask their questions?)

[OVERALL FIRST IMPRESSIONS]

Here’s mine: I’d love some first impression thoughts. When you browse my page, what words or phrases come to mind? What stands out? What initial questions do you have? What are you looking for but can’t easily find?

Not looking for advice but a few pairs of fresh eyes to help me see things from a new reader’s perspective.

Hey there! I peeped your page. I really love the visual coherence of the homepage. Great inviting pic on your pinned post! Words that come to mind: friendly, neurodivergent/adhd, ideas, reflection.

I am confused about "Wicked Wednesdays". The graphic isn't like any of the rest of your site and the words don't resonate with the rest of your headlines or descriptions?

On the welcome page, the words "connection to yourself" and "purposeful life" feel maybe vague, but the "Topics include" list feels energizing and intriguing? (Except maybe "values"?)

I guess I'm wondering: Is this a place for me to find... resources? Validation? I'm also wondering how do the 12 articles on your homepage point to "purposeful life"?

Last, I really love the "I want you to know" bullet list in your about page. That's the gold, right there, imo!

Thank you so much Marika for taking a look and sharing your impressions! I have been a bit in a funk this week so haven't really looked at your feedback, but I just did my monthly planning and listed a "Substack audit" as one of my projects. Your feedback will be a part of it and I'm so glad I have a starting point now. I look forward to spending time with what you have shared here. Thank you!!

[CHECK IN POST] I love this post and am wondering how to adapt it to my work. If it should be open to all subscribers or just paid (I have two!) I am thinking of adapting some of my freebies like "Ayurvedic Lingo" or 'You know if its menopause when" to suit a more formal Q & A type format. Any thoughts?

I think it depends on what your engagement already looks like. If people are already asking questions and having conversations, great - formalize it!
