The Publishing Mentorship
Make publishing decisions without flattening your voice.
The Publishing Mentorship is my premium support layer for craft-forward authors, founders and newsletter builders who want to make publishing decisions without flattening their voice — and build a steadier relationship with Substack over time.
If the paid subscription is the practice room (essays, tools, workshops), the Publishing Mentorship is the decision room — where you bring the next fork in the road and we choose what actually fits.
It’s ongoing decision support + monthly calibration, so you can keep delivering work that’s true and make the next strategic move without spinning out.
Enrollment
Enrollment is now open year-round.
$399/year (about $33/month).
Your subscription renews annually unless you cancel.
Who this is for
The Publishing Mentorship is for writers, journalists and founders who care deeply about craft and want their publishing strategy to support it — not override it. You’re thoughtful about your voice, aware that Substack has incentives and rhythms and you want to navigate them without becoming reactive or performative.
→ You don’t need someone to run your operation — you want a publisher’s perspective as you refine your own judgment.
You’ll feel at home here if you’re often asking:
“What matters right now — and what’s just noise?”
“Is this a voice evolution… or a drift?”
“What is my data actually telling me?”
“What’s the simplest next move that doesn’t flatten me?”
What the Publishing Mentorship Offers
This is a place where publishers can get steadier footing inside:
what they’re publishing next (and why)
how their voice is evolving — and how to protect it
what their data actually means (and what it doesn’t)
how to adjust cadence without burning out
how to build paid offerings without losing creative footing
The Publishing Mentorship is a container for making smarter, more confident decisions in real time — with a room that understands craft.
Inside the Publishing Mentorship
Monthly Office Hours with Amanda (with replays)
A monthly live clinic where you can bring the next fork in the road: value proposition drift, confusing data, Notes uncertainty, paid questions, rhythm problems, pivot energy, stuckness.
You’ll leave with what matters + what to ignore, language you can actually use, and a next step that fits your real capacity.
The Decision Desk (weekday Voxer channel)
This is the warm room between sessions — because most publishing friction happens in the moment.
Bring one decision at a time to the community (timing, framing, Notes, packaging, creative blocks, publishing rhythm) and get grounded input from a room of thoughtful publishers.
This is a shared Decision Desk.
How I show up: the Desk is open weekdays for peer Q&A. I’m in and out, and I keep an eye out for patterns that need a deeper dive. If your question requires editorial eyes on a draft, bring it to the Office Hours for strategic framing — or book a 20-minute Substack Gut Check / apply for Voice Lab when it’s available.
FAQ
Where does this fit with the paid subscription?
The paid subscription is where you receive a monthly publication resource (self-serve), access to the archive and one Writing Wisdom Workshop each month. Mentorship is for when you want help turning what you’re learning into a specific decision for your publication — especially when you’re at a fork in the road.
Is this ongoing 1:1 mentorship?
No. This is a group mentorship container with monthly live clinics + Voxer Decision Desk support. If you want private editorial coaching every month, you can explore that separately.
Do I have to attend the Office Hours live?
No. Replays are available.
How much time will this take?
One live session per month + Voxer Decision Desk participation at your own pace. This mentorship should weave in around how you already naturally publish your work.
What kinds of questions can I bring?
Positioning, value proposition, publishing rhythm, Notes strategy, paid design, pricing, subscriber conversion, editorial direction and interpreting audience feedback.
